Governor Lacson Expands Global Partnerships: Strengthening Ties with Australia’s Northern Territory for Negrense Scholars

Darwin, Northern Territory — Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose V. Lacson, who is currently in the Northern Territory, Australia to attend the graduation of Negrense scholars under the Negros Occidental Scholarship Program (NOSP), engaged in a diplomatic meeting with the Honorable Robyn Cahill, Minister for Trade, Business and Asian Relations; International Education, Migration and Population; Workforce Development; Advanced Manufacturing; Children and Families; Child Protection; and Prevention of Domestic Violence.

In their meeting, Governor Lacson and Minister Cahill discussed the strengthening of regional ties between Negros Occidental and the Northern Territory, particularly in areas of international education, skills development, trade, and cultural exchange, including the possibility of the resumption of direct flights from Manila to Darwin.

Joining Governor Lacson were Philippine Honorary Consul General to the Northern Territory Januario Rivas, Provincial Administrator Atty. Ray Diaz II, NOSP Head Karen Dinsay, and Provincial PIO and Exec. Asst. to the Governor Charina Magallanes-Tan.

Governor Lacson reiterated the Province’s commitment to building strategic global linkages that open opportunities for Negrenses and contribute to the province’s human capital development.

The visit highlights the successful collaboration between Negros Occidental and the Northern Territory in education programs that are already transforming lives of the Negrense youth.

The Governor’s presence at the graduation of Negrense scholars is a testament to the provincial government’s strong support for its students abroad and its vision of producing globally competitive and socially responsible Negrense professionals.
